Welda Skin Food*

"If there’s just one thing you need to take with you to a desert island, it’s this little green magic tube. Skin Food is a universal saviour of dry, rough skin on faces, elbows, hands and feet – wherever you take a lot out of your skin, let Skin Food put it back in. With extracts of gentle viola tricolor, calendula and chamomile, in a rich, thick base of oils and beeswax, Skin Food loves your skin back to its best."

The first thing I noticed about this product was the medical-type packaging. It can be likened to a prescription cream in a metal tube bottle. So instantly, I am not expecting a sweet smelling cream, however something more heavy duty and thorough.
The cream doesn't smell bad at all. It is certainly not flowery or perfumed like a Soap and Glory “hand food”, for example, which will really appeal to some people. I feel like I have more faith in the Skin Food’s properties and outcomes when it is so reminiscent of a medical cream. I think this medical element is echoed in the Welda logo.
THICK!! The cream is extremely thick, which I guess is the beeswax ingredient. And although the website states the base contains oils, I don't think the cream feels oily at all.Skin Food is great as a heavy duty cream for my elbows, knees, feet and hands. I will definitely use this on my hands and heels most often.
I also received a smaller 30ml version which is GREAT for my handbag! I get really dry hands when I am out and about. Caused by public loo soap and cold weather etc. This travel sized cream works so much better than any of the other brands I have tried that just dry out your hands after a while, making you apply more cream and in turn purchase more! It is also good to know that I have a body cream too, in case I need to top up on my elbows or corners of my mouth (where I get dry skin).

·        Medical-look
·        Thick/heavy duty
·        Rough skin (Elbows, heels and hands)
·        Great travel sized version!

Since I started using this product, I found out that Victoria Beckham swears by it! If that's not a good enough reason to try it, I don't know what is!

L.A.B2 Brush Review*

"A professional set of 4 essential brushes, designed for  flawless, high-definition makeup application."

Contour Brush – "sculpts, contours, and highlights facial features for subtle definition". This brush has a really great bristle angle. It created precise lines on cheeks and held more product than my other similar brush. The bristles are super soft and feel great against my face.

Buffing Brush – "provides full-coverage powder application and softens harsh lines for an airbrushed effect." Great for blending in any harsh lines left by contouring. Thick brush head, full of bristles! Again, super soft.

Sponge Applicator- LOVE!! I use it after soaking in water and wiping excess. The sponge doesn't soak up any product and helps to blend foundation and concealer well. Also feels SUPER soft!

Eyeshadow Brush- "shades and defines eyes with an even application of color". SUPER soft!!! After using this L.A.B2 eyeshadow brush, I realised I had been using the wrong brush for a while! Eyes are delicate and sensitive, you need a soft brush that can also get in the creases and blend colours together. This L.A.B2 brush is perfect as a basic eyeshadow brush that won’t be harsh on your delicate eyelids.

Foundation Brush- "provides a smooth, streak-free coverage with liquid foundation or concealer."
The brush head is a lot smaller than you would expect from a foundation brush. I haven’t used this one yet as I am enjoying blending in my foundation with the sponge applicator.

·        All brush bristles are SUPER soft!
·        Soft, easy to hold handles
·        Precise application
·        Great choice of staple brushes in the “Pro Brush Kit” for people needing to replace their basic set or new MUA’s.

L.A.B2 also have a page on their website dedicated to video tutorials! So if you're like me and love a good video make up tutorial, definitely check it out!

Blogger's Fashion Week 2016

Hello Lovelies!

I am extra, extra excited to share this blog post with you!

The Blogger's Hangout presents:

I had been looking forward to this event for the past few weeks and it did not disappoint! Here is a roundup of the day. In depth brand and product reviews to follow over the next 2 weeks! (To give me a good chance to test and try : D )

12pm: It's Monday 21st March and the weather is singing! I get ready at home and head out on the Overground to meet my friend and photographer for the day, Aaron! We meet at Hoxton station and make our way to the venue by foot. Luckily my shoes weren't too high-heeled for the cobbled pavement!
12.15pm: We arrived at the quirky, trendy, under-arches studio venue. The venue itself had a cool vibe to it and was open and bright. We were greeted by a selection of Blogger Hangout goodie bags which were filled with little treats and beauty gifts!

First stop, "Leighton Denny", a beauty brand that started off doing nails but have now ventured into self tanning, perfume and make-up. We spoke to one of their reps for a while who was super friendly and we had a good natter about my self- tanning fears! If you are like me and are worried about the "Tangoed" effects of tanning, this brand promises to help you build a natural and golden tan. I can't wait to try for myself!

12.30pm: Next up, we headed over to jewellery company "Annie Haak's" stall to 'Build Our Haak Stack' (love that!) I entered a competition to win my stack by snapping and posting a pic on my Instagram! Fingers crossed! This brand has a wide range of elasticated, beaded jewellery in lots of colours; something for every taste and size!

12.35pm: Two stalls down and we were already feeling a little parched! Thank goodness for "Zeo Drinks"! This brand is a new range of LOW sugar drinks who started out creating non alcoholic vodka! From there, they developed 6 exciting flavours that are extremely light and refreshing! I can see myself drinking these with ice on a summer’s day, or adding them to some spirits to create effortless cocktail flavours! Maybe I could create something and call it an EBONI-TAIL? What do you think? Maybe I'll think about the name.....

12.40pm: I got chatting to the lovely ladies of "Monu Skincare" which is a skincare line. If you read my recent Holland and Barrett’s post, you will know that I have been struggling a little with my skin recently. These products are supposed to be simple and effective. They smell GORGEOUS and contain a lot of natural ingredients. Monu Skincare was really generous and I received a load of products to take home and use myself! There will be a review of these products soon!

12.45pm: HAIR O' CLOCK!!! I had been waiting patiently and my time had finally come; to get my hair done by the lovely Tom Gilling at the "Hair Tools" stand. I had a really good convo with the Yorkshire-based team about hair care and hair dramas! In the end, Tom created this WONDERFUL 60's inspired up-do by blowing my hair out and then pinning into a low bun with a few bits left out. This is a style I would have never been able to try on myself and he did a brilliant job! Thank you Tom!

1pm: Time to head into the second section of the event. "SECOND SECTION you ask?!? Yeahh buddy!!! So down a little ramp and through a brick archway we arrived in another section full of stalls and people.

First stop, the "Type the Hype" stand. They explained a little to me about their brand and aims. One of the reps gave me a blogger’s planner with lots of helpful pages for planning blog posts. She also told me about their partnership with “Moo”, who create business cards. I have created business cards with Moo before, but I am well overdue some new ones. If I am able to get some free cards made (fingers crossed) I will hopefully be able to share that with you guys! I think it’s really cool (and grown up, eek!) to carry around your business cards :)

1.05pm: We had a brief chat with the ladies at the "Paul Mitchell" stand. They were super friendly and spoke to me about their salon-based products. I came away with some fab products to test which will also be going into a review!

1.10pm: “OMG!” I cried, make up brushes, “Aaron LOOK! Make Up brushes!!” ....Silence..... (Aaron didn't understand). I had been looking for a new set of makeup brushes for the past couple of weeks. I know MAC do good brushes but to get an entire set just isn't financially feasible. Luckily, "Lab2UK" came to the rescue with a set of cruelty-free, vegan brushes AND a makeup applicator sponge! Holy brush god, thank you!! I cannot wait to test these out and give them a review.... Or two ;)

1.15pm: Another drinks stand. This time, from "The Protein Drinks Co." I got chatting to one of the guys about their brand and current successes (top seller in Tesco) and how they are trying to change misconceptions from people about what a "protein drink" is. I was one of those sceptical people who shied away from the words "protein shake", however I would be really interested in trying this drink when I'm on the go and feeling peckish. I imagine it would curb my hunger, without the naughty calories of a chocolate bar in the afternoon! I am hoping to get a small supply to give this a go for a week and document the results!

1.20pm: Smells, glorious smells!!! I could smell the "Kenneth Turner" Stand from across the room as they were burning beautiful scented candles and soaking reed diffusers. The smell attracted me initially, but the actual designs of the candles are stunning. Each one is embedded in a curvaceous vase which could even be used once the candle burns out, or as the ladies put it "the gift that keeps on giving". The design and overall product feel makes me think that they would suit almost any home and make a really special gift. The lovely reps allowed us to smell the entire range of Kenneth Turner candles and take one home in the form of a hand cream! I chose “Bubbly” because it smells fresh and sweet.

1.25pm: Curls, Curls, Curls!!! The gorgeous girls at “The Curl Company” had some great advice for my curly curly hair! I tend to use quite a lot of heat on my hair, so need products to restore any damaged bits and give strength and shine! TCC generously gave me a bunch of full- sized bottles from their dry hair care range for me to try and review! I LOVE hair masks and anything that leaves my hair feeling soft, strong and manageable. I will be back here to talk about my Curl Company experience soon!

1.30pm: Last but not least, the wonderful Vegan- friendly, cruelty free skincare brand "Amie Skincare". This brand was started by Fiona Parkhouse for her daughter who suffered from bad breakouts as a young teen. Yet another brand who I could really use right now to repair and get my skin back to its child-like state of glowy youthfulness!  (Not too much to ask right?!) :p Review to follow!

Pheww, well if you got through all of that, it was almost as if you were there with me! I hope you are looking forward to the reviews; I am certainly looking forward to working my way through all these gorgeous products!

Thank you to Blogger's Hangout for organising this fab event and for all the brilliant brands for being so lovely and generous!

Peace out for now,

Eb x

Recent Purchases

Hey Guys!

Here are a few of my latest fashion finds. There are a lot of BARGAIN FINDS in this post!
Let me know which is your fav!

  1. H&M Mustard Top
This is a colour I have NEVER owned before! I saw this top in H&M, Camden and it jumped out at me (not literally, obvs ;)
I tried it on and loved it instantly. When I wear it, people often comment on how much the colour suits me. I think it's a colour that would look great on brunettes! (£7.99)
2. XOXO set
I came across this set while looking for a more affordable alternative to the recently popular Calvin Klein sets. I found these in TK Maxx Lewisham and love it! This is a great purchase if you are unsure whether the Calvin’s will suit you/ if you will like them on, without spending £40+. The briefs came in a pack of two (with some matching blue) at £3.99 and the sports bra was £10.99 (although I wouldn’t recommend wearing the bra as an actual sports bra as it doesn’t have much support!

3. Black Boots
I hope you’re holding onto your socks, because I may be about to blow them off! So these cute, on trend, black, leather boots are another of my Primark BARGAIN FINDS! I love the style of these, and although they may be a little too “winter” for the current Spring season, I think they will work well in this ‘in-betweeny’ weather and are so classic, that they should be wearable next year too. I also think I will get a lot of wear out of them as the heel is so low and ‘everyday’.  Ok, socks ready?
These beauties were £5! I love that moment at the till when you ask to price check an item and they end up being really cheap! There have been many Primark cashiers who have been astonished by my bargain baskets!
4. Scented Candles
Always stocking the collection. These were right by the tills and just too tempting! I love a good scented candle. Home smells are really important to me. The only problem I have with these small Primark candles, is that they burn out far too quickly. They smell great though! And at £1 each, why not eh!?

 5. Pink Bag
Ok so I was browsing through Primark Tottenham Court Road (Oxford Street East) and came across a load of these bags all reduced to £4.50. It turned out that these were all reduced due to some slight cosmetic damage. However, I could tell from looking at it that I could definitely give the outside a little wash at home to restore. And I did! The scuffs have completely gone and I love the pinky/nude colour! Great Spring addition!

6. White Jumper
This is a simple crew-neck white jumper from H&M Camden (£4 on sale). I love a good white jumper. Especially in this weather! You can feel bright and spring-y while also staying warm!
7. Stripe top and socks
Stripes, stripes, stripes! These two came from Primark Tottenham court road. The socks (£1 on sale) originally came with a frilly boarder that I hated and removed asap! The top (£4) is great paired with some light jeans but I will also pair it underneath something like dungarees or a pinafore dress.

8. Spice Girls Backpack

OK, so technically this isn’t a recent ‘purchase’, but more like a find! I found this amongst all my six-year-old-me stuff recently. I love it!

Michael McIntyre's BIG SHOW!

Hi Guys!

So this Sunday 6th March, my best friend Naomi and I headed into the heart of London 's West End to watch the TV taping of Michael McIntyre's "Big Show". I don't know what we were expecting, but needless to say, we got ALOT of fun, entertainment and laughs! See for yourself...

2pm- We met at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to collect our tickets. I got them for free on ApplauseStore.com and we were even priority tickets, which meant we skipped a lot of the queue XD

3pm- After collecting our tickets (we got Stalls seats right in the middle! Woo) we were told to come back at 6.30pm for a 7pm show! So only one thing to do.... SHOPPING AND FOOD!!

We head into Covent Garden and looked in Apple Store, Body Shop, Kiko and M•A•C! Naomi bought a new Mac lipstick which was a subtle nude everyday-wear type shade as a little treat for getting into Art College!

We had a walk down Neale Street and popped into Cath Kidston and a really cool shop called Skinny Dip London! I swear, do not go into that shop with no money! EVERYTHING is so cool! Such a good shop for gifts too! If you sign up to their mailing list, you get £5 off online. Check it out!

Next stop- FOOD! We head to the end of Neale street to eat at "The Diner". An american style restaurant that serves burgers, hot dogs and shakes etc. We were sat in a booth by the bar which was a good spot. I ordered a hamburger and water, Naomi got a hotdog with fries and a ginger beer. It was really yummy! After our food, we shared an Oreo milkshake which tasted really good but wasn't as thick as I usually like in my ice-cream milkshakes.

We took our seats 45 minutes before the show started, so had plenty of time to settle down. They were right in the middle of the lowest seating tier; The Stalls. A comedian warmup-act opened with a few rules and tips about cheering and laughing (and not swearing!) We even managed to be filmed a couple of times, so we might be on tele!
The show was great, Michael was hilarious as always, I was even crying a little bit! We saw him prank Dragon's Den's Peter, and Rod Stewart performed. The final act was Jess Glynne! Was not expecting that at all! She sang twice and we had a little dance :D

Pheww, we got out at 10:20pm after a huuggee show!

What a fun Sunday!!

Argan Dew*

Hi Guys,

So as you may know, I am mixed race with naturally curly hair, but I always seem to straighten it or blow dry it out to achieve length. I recently started to think about going natural more often as it would help my hair repair damage and strengthen. I was in search for something that would help maintain my curls, nourish my curls and keep them soft and smelling sweet.

I came across company Argan Dew and thought I would give it a go! I have tried the “Miraculous Argan Oil (daily treatment) and the “Intensive Replenishing Hair Mask”. Bare in mind that as I have an afro hair-type, I only wash my hair about twice a week max, and my hair also benefits from lots of oil where other hair types may suffer.

Ok, on to the review!...

"At the heart of the Argan Dew hair care line lies the natural and versatile richness of pure Argan oil, which in its natural, purest form already contains all the moisture, essential vitamins and antioxidants needed to nourish and rejuvenate the scalp and hair."

Miraculous Argan Oil- So I used this product on my wet hair after a general shampoo wash and condition. I usually turn to a leave in conditioner, wash out hair mask or oil like coconut or caster after washing. I massaged the oil into my damp hair working most of the product from the ends up to the root. I then used a wide-tooth comb to work out any tangles and spread the product further. I always wash my hair before bed so it dries naturally overnight instead of using heat. I woke up to extremely soft, nourished curls. I also felt that when using hair straighteners, my hair had an added level of protection. Over time, with using this product on my hair ends especially and applying less heat, I am hoping for my hair to be restored and growth to be enhanced through the new healthy ends.

Intensive Replenishing Hair Mask- I love a good hair mask! They are great maybe once every one or two weeks to grant your hair moisture and a deep condition. This Argan Dew Hair Mask was my favourite of the two products I tried. I washed my hair as usual with a nourishing shampoo and conditioner. I then applied the mask to damp (not dripping) hair and left for about 5 minutes (while I made a green tea :p ). I then washed out using tepid water and left to dry naturally. This morning when I woke up, I was so pleased with the results! My hair was firstly SO SOFT to touch. It smelt wonderful and all my curls were fairly defined with minimal frizz. I felt like I could rock my natural curls after a running light oil serum through. This is a fab hair mask for those who have never tried one before or for someone looking for a nourishing, repairing product.

I can’t wait to use my second sachets of each product. Next time, I will use them in conjunction with one another. So apply and wash out the mask, then use the oil! I am looking forward to those results!

Argan Dew can be bought online.

Headshots by Alishia Love!

So, as you may know, I am an actor, and for my job you need to have professional photos of your head and shoulders for casting directors to see what you look like. I recently had some new ones done in Hammersmith with Alishia Love. It was such a lovely day and Alishia made it really nice and easy. We had two hours to get the shots, but only needed one hour in the end! Here are some of the retouched photos:

What do you guys think?

If you are in need some headshots yourself, contact the lovely Alishia;

Peace out for now x
