Bravura Skincare, Full Round Up*

Hey Guys,

Let's talk skincare! I have spoken about my fluctuating skin problems on my blog before. I have recently been experiencing a range of problems that had never been an issue for me before; from sub-clinical acne to enlarged pores, it was almost as if my skin was finally hitting puberty (which it had previously skipped!) For those of us who have suffered from "problem skin", you understand how much it can affect everyday life- confidence and so on... as an actor who is trying to get into film and TV, problem skin can even affect my ability to do my job!
I have been trying SO many different products, some of which I have bought myself and some of which I have been kindly gifted by brands. My latest venture comes in the form of these colourful, matte-glass bottles from Bravura London
Bravura London officially began  in 2003 by Amanda, who has since put together an incredible line of "at-home" acid skin peels as well as toners and cleansers that are used by many, including some well know celebs (Charlotte Crosby, Ed Sheeran and Sam Faires)!

"Bravura London. (Pronounced BRA-VIEW-RA) is dedicated to supplying the best quality, effective cosmeceutical skincare products at very realistic prices." -
Do not let the words "Acid Peel" put you off at all! I was initially extremely anxious to try something I thought was a procedure only to be conducted in the safety of a salon! However, with a bit of research and a better knowledge, I feel like I am fully equipped and ready to handle the responsibility of using these products and I would love to talk you through my own routine to hopefully inform and inspire you for your own skin-care journey

First up: The Basics- First Cleanse Oil and Ginseng Toner
This cleansing oil is not like any other cleanser I have used. First of all, it is an oil; it has a thicker consistency in comparison to a miceller water, for example. This texture means that the product is extremely hydrating and softening

Do not worry about adding an oil to acne-prone skin like mine, the Bravura site reassured me: "oil attracts oil". The cleanser can be used with water as a make-up remover ("When a little water is added, it turns in to a milky cleanser for quick and easy removal") or, like me, you can use this oil with a cotton pad for a second cleanse, as a way of removing any excess dirt and stubborn make up ("it also dissolves tough products like waterproof mascara and so you can use it as your first cleanse to remove make-up and then follow with a second cleanse"). It is then washed off before applying the toner...

This toner is perfect. It has a pleasant smell, a great consistency and works with your skin to balance your PH level in preparation for an acid treatment.
"This delicately scented toner is infused with botanical extracts and exfoliating aha's which help to tone and firm, tighten the pores and smooth the appearance of the skin, to give it a finer, softer texture. Any last traces of cleanser is removed and skin feels ultra clean."It is super easy to apply too: "After cleansing, apply with cotton wool, sweep across the face and neck, avoiding the eye area and mucous membranes."

The acid treatments...
First of all: Remember when using the acids to perform a patch test of all the products first! This will seem obvious but it is so important, especially if you haven't used such strong beauty products before.

The Lactic Acid (10%) is a mild peel and is the perfect treatment for dry or dehydrated skin suffering from hyperpigmentation, acne, dry/dull skin, ageing skin or to just freshen the complexion and revive your natural glow.

"Lactic acid works at the base of the skin’s stratum corneum, dissolving the ‘glue’ that holds dead skin cells together. Because this increases cell turnover, skin becomes smoother, more elastic and more even in tone and texture.
At the same time Lactic Acid also stimulates your skin to produce more collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein of the skin and keeps it elastic and line free; when this starts to disintegrate, skin begins to sag and wrinkle. Replacing the collagen your skin has lost with age can help diminish crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines, and vertical lines around the lips."

I started off with this product as it is a great introductory for your skin due to its mild nature. For my first application, I used the Lactic Acid for 10 minutes (using my phone time), and applied the product extremely lightly with the gentle face brush
As you become more comfortable and confident using the products, and if you don't experience any burning, stinging or other side affects, you could slowly up your application amount and time (though never exceeding the stated maximum dose!)
The Lactic Acid can be used every other day.

The Salicylic Acid (2%) is much stronger than the other acids, and therefore it is highly effective in lower percentage solutions. Do not use hot water to rinse your face after this peel. This product can be used every other day just like the Lactic Acid...

The Glycolic Acid (10%) can be used 3-4 times a week (every other day) giving far superior results to a peel used once a week. The results are similar to those of the Lactic Acid, however this one is a little more abrasive (10%).

For example: Monday- Lactic Acid, Wednesday- Salicylic Acid, Friday Glycolic Acid, Sunday- Lactic Acid, etc. (The in between days are just general Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise days with no acid treatment).

Remember to read all the application instructions before using any of the products. The acid treatments should not be used every day, so double check the instructions for the amount of times each product should be used and how to create your own weekly routine that includes all your fav products!

I have been using these Acids for the past couple of weeks and have already noticed a change in my complexion; my skin is more even in tone compared to before when I had a few darker areas from spot scars. I am looking forward to continuing my Bravura journey and noticing even more changes to my skin health!

This is a light, fragrance-free moisturiser "packed with calming and healing botanical ingredients will soothe and heal the skin", p
erfect for use after a acid treatment or on those "in between" days after your toner. The light texture makes this cream great for using as part of your morning and evening routine!
"...packed with soothing botanical extracts such as Azulene, Aloe Vera and Allantoin this moisturiser can be used day or night for an immediate calming effect. This product however is uinsuitable for cracked or very dry, flaky skin."

"Our products DO work, we extensively test all our new products, if they don’t meet our exacting standards, they go back to the lab. This is why we have so many dedicated customers who say that after trying Bravura London, they never want to use another brand again"-

My Top Tip is to check out the Bravura website for more information on all the products featured, and for some great videos explaing how to use each product!
