We Escaped! | Lock'd, UK

There are not many occasions where you could throw me into a strange, dark room, lock all the doors and tell me I have to answer a series of cryptic questions in order to escape... but with Lock’d, I wanted to be contained for longer!

This week my friends and I were kindly invited by the brains behind Lock'd, to try one of their immersive escape rooms.

"An escape room, also known as a "escape game", is a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms."

Now, I'm no stranger to an escape room, having spent many years as a teenager sat in the ICT suite after school playing the online versions! Then playing my first real life escape room just a couple of years ago. I love them! So you can imagine how excited I was to try out Lock'd!

Lock'd is located within the Biscuit Factory, a short walk from Bermondsey Station. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our great host Rogan, who gave us the lowdown on the room we would be playing ("Grandpa's Last Will") and all the little rules and handy tips we would need. Team talk over, it was time to get down to business!

"In London's most exciting beginner friendly escape game, wealthy entrepreneur, scientist and world traveller Neil Morgan has died. And luckily, he’s left his multi-million pound mansion, business empire and life savings to you. The problem is, you’ve only got 60 minutes to find his will before the police arrive and arrest you for trespassing. It's a perfect opportunity to get rich quick on a family outing!"

Now, without giving too much away, the game was SO GOOD! Clues, puzzles, props, twists, turns and mystery made up this game. There were five of us, each as dramatic and competitive as the next. I think we all brought something unique to the game, from the logical one, to the excited one and the "think outside the box" one (I'm looking at you, Grace!) It was so enjoyable being with all my friends who enjoyed the whole experience just as much as me!

I was especially excited by the plot twists and turns. I thought the story line and puzzles were paired beautifully to create suspense, interest and mystery. We never had to worry about feeling lost or stuck, because Rogan was just a walkie-talkie call away, armed with cryptic clues should we have felt stuck. We managed to finish the entire game with 20 minutes still to spare of the 60 minute game! I'd say that was an absolute victory!

Here's what my friend's had to say:

"It was F***ing amazing! I felt like Sherlock, Miss Marple and Lara Croft all at the same time."

"It was great fun watching my friends lose their minds! It's awesome to get back that child-like joy and excitement for something."

"It was so much fun trying a new thing with your friends and seeing how everyone coped and worked together and just had an absolute blast figuring the rooms out - really well designed and very clever - love it"

It was AWESOME! I got to live my dream of being a detective.

Huge thank you to Lock'd for an amazing afternoon! If you would like to book an escape game with Lock'd check out their website here. They currently have three rooms to choose from, with loads of new ones opening (including a WIZARD theme one omg I'm goin nowww okkk byee).
