I’ve really been loving podcasts recently. They make me laugh, the make me think, they keep me company on long journeys home, they drown out the sound of my thighs chafing - they’re great! I started off my podcasting journey just looking for audio books to play on my commute or to fall asleep to. I didn’t really find anything I liked. I was about to give up when I stumbled across these gems...
I thought I would share three of my favourites with you. And who knows, maybe one will tickle your fancy!
Pretty Basic
This podcast is the reason I got into podcasts! My friends had plenty of suggestions for what I could listen to, but I until recently, I thought podcasts were for “self-help”, meditation and life advice - I thought they sounded a little self indulgent and would perhaps just be a reminder of all the things that are wrong with me. It was then that a couple of YouTubers I like, Remi and Alisha, came out with their answer to the Podcast trend; “Pretty Basic”.
Pretty Basic is as girly and frivolous as it is honest and truthful. the listener gets to see a side to Remi and Alisha that they both admit, they wish they portrayed more of on their YouTube channel. From boy drama to friendships, body image and funny stories, this podcast covers a range of topics that really appeal to teens and 20-something year olds.
Sh*gged, Married, Annoyed

Sh*gged, Married, Annoyed
This is my most recent podcast discovery. Comedian Chris Ramsey and his wife Rosie Ramsey, form the most perfect comedy couple for this series! With segments like “whats your beef?” Where they have it out with one another about their most annoying quirks, this podcast feels like a fly-on-the-wall insight into married life! And it’s brilliant!Happy Place
The Happy Place is Fearne Cotton’s podcast which features a new celebrity guest each week. She tackles tough subjects like mental health, with humility and empathy, often touching on subjects that would otherwise make me feel alone and isolated. I especially love that she talks to public figures, because it humanises people who we may otherwise think have perfect, glamorous lives the media so wishes us to believe! Happy Place is definitely the most calm and peaceful of the three I have mentioned. Even the theme tune makes me want to stop and meditate :)
Box of Thoughts
I have been a viewer of Gabbie Hanna for a couple of years. So when she recently started releasing her own podcast, I couldn't wait to tune in weekly! Box of Thoughts is a chatty, discussion type podcast with Gabbie, who is joined by her friend and co-host Irene Walton, where they discuss the latest life events and give their own life updates. This podcast is also available in video form on YouTube which I love. A great, down-to-earth and engading show with a lot of relatability.
