Laser Hair Removal with Pulse Light Clinic

Laser Hair Removal with Pulse Light Clinic

Hey Guys,
This week's post is a little different to my usual blog posts, however, I am excited to share this experience with you. Consider this our friendship initiation - I spill intimate details about me, whilst you listen?...
This summer, I was invited by the team at Pulse Light Clinic, to choose a treatment to undergo as part of a complimentary press gift. After considering many of their treatments such as coolsculpting and chemical peels, I decided I would opt for laser hair removal. Pulse Light offer a variety of packages for different areas such as the legs, underarms and bikini line. I am currently on the 3rd treatment of my bikini line laser hair removal to help combat ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal is one of the best ways to target your ingrown hairs. My bikini line was something I've always been super aware of. I love spa days and beach days and feeling confident in front of my partner, so this seemed like the best decision for me.
I know that body hair and body hair removal is extremely personal to each individual. I am someone who will usually shave my legs, armpits and bikini line. For the most part, my body reacts fine to shaving or hair removal cream, however my bikini line tends to become red and irritated due to the ingrown hairs. So not only will this treatment be cosmetically beneficial for me, but also medically.
At the time of writing, I have completed 2 sessions of laser hair removal on my bikini line, with a third appointment coming up in a few days. I still have another 4-6 more sessions to undergo at this point, so I will aim to update this post once all sessions are complete!

Laser Hair Removal FAQ
What are ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hairs are hairs that have curled around and grown back into your skin instead of rising up. Ingrown hairs can develop anywhere, from the legs to the bikini line and underarms to the jawline. They can be painful, itchy and irritating.
What is the cause?
Most commonly, shaving will cut hair too closely and will result in the end of the hair piercing the skin, causing an ingrown hair. Lack of exfoliation causes dead skin to clog up the hair follicle. That forces the hair inside it to grow sideways under the skin, rather than upward and outward.
What are the benefits of Laser Hair Removal?
1. Reduction of ingrown hairs
2. Smoother skin
3. Not having to shave or wax
4. Less irritation to the skin
5. Permanent hair reduction
6. Reduces excessive hair growth
Does it hurt?
In my experience so far, I find the treatment to be uncomfortable but not painful. Depending on the location of the treatment, it doesn't take too long and the machine at Pulse Light Clinic emits a stream of cool air along with the laser to improve comfort. My bikini line takes approximately 10-15 minutes to do.
How much does it cost?
Consultations and patch tests are free, then treatment packages for 6 weeks of treatments range from £177-£700.

When will I see results?
Real results can be expected after about four sessions of laser. I have had just two sessions and already notice my hair growing back patchier and thinner.
What to expect at my appointment?
1. You’ll need to shave the area of skin the day before your appointment.
2. On the day, you’ll be asked to wear specially designed goggles to protect your eyes during the procedure.
3. Local anaesthetic isn’t necessary. The practitioner applies a cooling air spray to the area of skin.
4. They then press a hand-held device to your skin and trigger the laser. This may feel like lots of tiny pin pricks to your skin. If you are finding the sensation too much, you can ask the practitioner to have a short break.
5. Each session may take between 15 minutes to over an hour.
6. The number of sessions needed depends on the area to be lasered.
As I mentioned earlier, I am yet to complete my treatments, so will definitely update this post once I am done.
