The past few months have not been easy for anyone. For most of us, we have been stuck indoors, either with friends, family or loved ones. For a select few of us, we have been relatively alone. I have felt detached from "normal" life at times. No amount of scrolling on Instagram or Zoom chats with friends, has filled my social void. However, I am trying to see the positive in this. Being left alone with my own thoughts for most of the day, has forced me to address the topics of self-love and self-care. With little to no distractions, I have had to face many waves of negative thoughts. I had an extremely low few days just a few weeks into lockdown. I learned how to ride that wave as best as I could at the time, but have recently been thinking of more practical ways to combat my negative thoughts.
