Oo, another blogger writing about "self-care" and "wellness", nothing new here. Okay, okay, but hear me out! I don't know about you, but if this past year has taught me anything, it is that firstly, I still have a long way to go in regards to my mental health and being content in my own company (but that's a blog post for another day!) Secondly, this past year, being cooped up indoors, has given me the gift of time and finding ways to not only entertain myself, but to take care of myself. Without the usual distractions of life (brunch, drinks, holidays, events, work etc...) Alone time and self-care time has definitely been brought to the forefront of my mind. And I don't just mean giving yourself an at-home, DIY acrylic manicure that inevitably never looks quite like your nail tech's work. Or giving yourself a spontaneous, dodgy, at-home curly hair cut at 1am in the morning after drinking too much coffee past 5pm that evening (I am looking at myself here...) What I do mean, is paying attention to your body, your skin and your mind. Is your face feeling dull and dry this winter? Time to switch up that skincare. Feeling low and not getting enough sun? Vitamin D supplements are your friend. Having the worst period cramps of all time? Have you tried chocolate and an electric blanket? We're gonna be covering all of this and more in today's blog post.

SKINCARE

Skincare is something I have had the luxury of experimenting with these past few months. I am very lucky in that I get sent products by lovely brands to sample at home (I like to think of myself as a human guinea pig for my followers!) This means I have accumulated quite the collection and I love to mix and match, to try and perfect my routines. Winter has sucked all of the moisture out of my skin! I find myself reaching for thick, heavy night creams and oils to replenish that lost glow. My favorites at the moment are by CauadlĂe Resveratrol Lift Firming Cashmere Cream, Liz Earle's Skin Repair Rich Cream, followed shortly after by the Dior Capture Totale cream. They are all perfect winter companions with thick and heavy consistencies.

HAIR REMOVAL

Moving onto hair removal - I have been experimenting with this too! Not only do I rarely get any "hairy" body parts out in winter anyway, but even less so now that I am confined to home! This means I have loved the hair removal process for myself, and I have been allowing my skin to breathe and heal at lot longer between shaves. I have been trying at-home laser hair removal in order to continue my laser journey that I started in 2019. It has been going well, though I do need to be a little more consistent! Before lasering, you have to completely shave the treatment area. I love Estrid for shaving - it is the best razor I have found (and I have been through many brands over the past 15 years!) Not only is Estrid extremely visually beautiful (hello CUTE, aesthetic packaging!) But it is also the smoothest and closest shave I have ever had. The handle itself feels extremely luxurious and expensive (hint: it's not) and the best part is that Estrid razors can come as part of a subscription service, delivered straight to your door whenever you want! They are also cruelty-free and come in a range of 5 gorgeous colours. I tried Estrid for the first time about a year ago and fell in love with the brand, so this collaboration was a no-brainer! Highly, highly recommend!

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

I find Winter always takes a toll on my mental health, and even more so this year, for obvious reasons. For this reason, I have started to create some 'good habits' that fit seamlessly within my routines. I started a virtual dance class event three times a week with a friend! Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, we live text each other and complete two YouTube workout videos. This has been incredible not only for my body, but my mental health. Dance is a great cardio supplement alongside my long walks in a big park (which has also been lovely since the weather has gotten sunnier). I have started to take vitamin D tablets once a day with a meal. Vitamin D is great for overall bone health, but it is also the vitamin we get from the sun! I'm never too sure if supplements such as vitamin D or B12 really work, but I am hopeful that it is! Lastly, I have been treating myself to a good amount of my favourite supplement - chocolate! I love snuggling up in bed or on the sofa, with a great Netflix series to binge and a slab of my favourite chocolate!

I would love to know how you are combatting skincare, self-care and your own wellness at this time! How do you look after yourself physically and mentally? What makes you feel content and relaxed?
