9 Things to see, do and eat, in Amsterdam

Hey Guys,

This summer, I spent a lot of my time travelling, trying to cram in a few more adventures before starting a new full-time job. Amsterdam was one of the places I ended up, and not for the first time. I have been to Amsterdam four times before, but this time was a little different; we were staying with and being shown around by a local! This meant that I had not visited many of these places before and I loved how I felt like a local myself by the end of the trip! So I thought I would share this list with you, and maybe you'll feel like a local too.

5 Things to Do in London Bridge

Hey Guys,

Today's post is going to be another one based in my home city, London. I love sharing my London adventures with you and hope to inspire someone's visit! I have previously written about Covent Garden, Afternoon Tea on a London Bus, Self-drive boating and more!

I often find myself gravitating towards London Bridge and the Southbank when choosing places to hang out in London. I have put together this list of activities for those of you who are perhaps staying in a London Bridge hotel and want to find some local things to do and see. Also for you Londoners who are looking for a new area to explore!

New in Homeware at TK Maxx

Hey Guys,

Today's post is all about my recent trip to the brand-spanking new TK Maxx store on London's Oxford Street. I was kindly invited to explore the store and pick up a few items to show you! I am a huge homeware lover, shopping for home accessories at least a couple times a month. I especially enjoy picking up affordable items, and have even started a dedicated Instagram account for my finds!
TK Maxx is the perfect destination for great brands and products but for up to 60% less than the RRP price. I've been shopping here for years and keep coming back as the stock is constantly being replenished with new brands and products every week. So nothing is the same from one visit to another. I also love the selection of seasonal homeware at TK Maxx. They are well known for having an amazing selection at Halloween and Christmas, especially.

A Cosy Stay at Point a. Kensington

Hey Guys,

Last week, I was kindly invited to stay with Point a. Hotels for the second time! My last stay was at the Shoreditch branch, in East London. This time, it was the brand new Kensington Olympia hotel that I would be staying in.
Set just a short walk from Earls Court underground station, Point a. Kensington is a small, boutique-esque hotel with a typical "Kensington" facade. As with all Point a. branches, this hotel is friendly and affordable.

25hours Hotel, Paris

Hey Guys,

Today, I am letting you into Paris' best kept secret - the incredible 25hours Hotel, Terminus Nord! I was kindly invited by the press team at 25 Hours, to stay for two days in Paris with my partner. The experience was wonderful and I have nothing but praise for this quirky hotel, situated directly on the doorstep of the Eurostar terminal.
We arrived around midday on a Tuesday afternoon. The Eurostar was affordable and convenient, taking us right from the centre of London, to the front door of our Hotel! We were able to check in straight away, despite arriving earlier than our check-in time and after being whisked up to the second floor via the top-to-bottom, gold mirrored elevator, we arrived at room 226 - our Parisian home.

An Instagram Guide to...Paris!

Hey Guys,

Today's post is yet another edition of my "Instagram Guide to..." series. In the past, i have covered Portsmouth, Southampton, Covent Garden, Los Angeles and England! I recently got back from a wonderful Parisian adventure with my partner. He was such a trooper and doubled as my Paris date and photographer (I took some cute pics of him too!)
Enjoy getting to know the ins and outs of some of the BEST must-see locations in Paris and take some inspo for pictures for your own trip! Stay tuned til the end for an additional list of places I wish we had time to visit, but did not. Unfortunately, we only stayed for two nights, so had to squeeze everything into three days, for which, I think we did pretty well!

Laser Hair Removal with Pulse Light Clinic

Hey Guys,

This week's post is a little different to my usual blog posts, however, I am excited to share this experience with you. Consider this our friendship initiation - I spill intimate details about me, whilst you listen?...
This summer, I was invited by the team at Pulse Light Clinic, to choose a treatment to undergo as part of a complimentary press gift. After considering many of their treatments such as coolsculpting and chemical peels, I decided I would opt for laser hair removal. Pulse Light offer a variety of packages for different areas such as the legs, underarms and bikini line. I am currently on the 3rd treatment of my bikini line laser hair removal to help combat ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal is one of the best ways to target your ingrown hairs. My bikini line was something I've always been super aware of. I love spa days and beach days and feeling confident in front of my partner, so this seemed like the best decision for me.
I know that body hair and body hair removal is extremely personal to each individual. I am someone who will usually shave my legs, armpits and bikini line. For the most part, my body reacts fine to shaving or hair removal cream, however my bikini line tends to become red and irritated due to the ingrown hairs. So not only will this treatment be cosmetically beneficial for me, but also medically.

Afternoon Tea on a London Bus!

Hey Guys,

This month, I have been celebrating the lead-up to Afternoon Tea Week here in the UK. From climbing the highest mountain in England and tucking into High Tea at the peak, to a sweet afternoon tea on-board a traditional London Routemaster bus!

My Top 5 Photography Tips for Bloggers

Hey Guys,

Last week, I was invited by HP, to attend a photography workshop led by the brilliant Adam Karnacz of First Man Photography. Adam is an extremely talented landscape photographer with his own YouTube channel. He spoke to us about the difference between “snapshots” and “photographs” and even lent his expertise to us with his own top tips for great photography. I used what I had learnt from the workshop and created my own tips, specific to bloggers. So I hope you find this useful!
HP were very generous and I was able to walk away with a HP Pavillion 15 to use for the week! I was excited to head to Kew Gardens, to create some amazing content that I could then edit on the Pavillion. I edited all the images for this blog post using Lightroom on the Pavillion 15. It was perfect for keeping up with the demanding tasks without slowing down and the picture quality was extremely high! This is down to it's graphic options (up to NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050Ti graphics.) HP says: "These high-end graphics give your biggest, graphically demanding projects and multimedia experiences a boost in detail with 1080p and game without experiencing any slowdowns, hiccups, or stuttering."

*This is a sponsored post in collaboration with HP. All images were edited using Lightroom Classic on the HP Pavilion 15 – a laptop boasting state-of-the-art NVIDIA technology that allows creators to perform at their best.*

5 Ways to Enjoy Summer in London

Hey Guys,

So just 24 hours ago, I was laying on top of the pink lilo that floated in the newly built 10-foot swimming pool that now resides in my garden. I bought this make-shift pool for £30 last year, as a result of the scorching temperatures we were experiencing in London. However… I am now watching said-pool in my garden, being smothered by rain drops from the storm that followed the 39º, perfect weather we had yesterday!
I think that pretty much sums up London in summer; always keeping you on your toes. Hopefully these top tips of mine will help you survive your London summer!

*This post features a non-sponsored collaboration with Daisy London. They Kindly gifted me a couple of their lovely necklaces to feature in this blog post *

5 Reasons Why I Love Brighton

Hey Guys,

Last weekend I decided to take some much needed time away from London with one of my best friends. We both agreed Brighton would be the perfect day away, to relax and unwind a bit. The weather was on our side, with 30º heat all day and bright skies. So with our train tickets in hand (less than £9.00 with our 26-30 railcards) we were off to the sea!

Celebrating Wedding Season with Pandora

Hey Guys,

Last week, I was invited along to a special event with Pandora. Myself and and a few other lovely bloggers gathered at the gorgeous Ivy Tower Bridge restaurant to celebrate the wedding gifts and bridesmaid's collections. We also had the lovely Katie, from London Calligraphy, with us to teach (or attempt to, in my case) writing in calligraphy - *spoiler alert* I was terrible!

Cocktails and Canapés with VIVI, London

Hey Guys,

Last week, my partner and I were invited for drinks and bar bites with VIVI. VIVI is a restaurant and bar based in Centre Point, just by Tottenham Court road station - the perfect location for post-shopping catch ups and cocktails! This large bar and restaurant combo features four distinct, and beautiful, sections which they call "VIVI Zones":

 VIVI Zones
"VIVI has been cleverly zoned into four key spaces; The Dining Room, The Bar, The Gallery and Liquid Lounge each bringing a different character to suit your dining requirements."

This post is centred around the bar menu and all images were taken within the Liquid Lounge area. We booked a table for 3pm (I was trying to be clever and pick a less-busy time,  just after lunch and just before dinner). My plan worked! It was very quiet at this time, which I really liked! We had the entire Liquid Lounge to ourselves for about an hour, which was perfect for taking lots of pictures but also felt very intimate and peaceful.

Why Podcasts Are My New 'Thing'

Hey Guys,

I’ve really been loving podcasts recently. They make me laugh, the make me think, they keep me company on long journeys home, they drown out the sound of my thighs chafing - they’re great! I started off my podcasting journey just looking for audio books to play on my commute or to fall asleep to. I didn’t really find anything I liked. I was about to give up when I stumbled across these gems...
I thought I would share three of my favourites with you. And who knows, maybe one will tickle your fancy!

Egyptian Street Food in London

Hey Guys,

I was recently invited by the team at Koshari Street, to come and try something from their menu. I love trying new food, especially dishes that derive from other counties and cultures, so was happy to pop along on a Friday lunchtime!
I took my friend Shermin, who is vegan, as they have many vegan and vegetarian options - so I thought it would be great for her. We arrived around midday and couldn't wait to discover what "Koshari" really was...

Self-Drive Boating with Go Boat London

Hey Guys,

I was recently able to add a new key skill to my CV - “sailor”. Okay maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration, but the sentiment remains the same. Coincidentally, my email from Go Boat arrived just a day after I had watched the film Adrift (and cried) luckily for me, my experience was nothing like the movie Adrift...

I was kindly invited, along with 7 of my friends, to test drive a Go Boat, at their newest branch opening - Kingston upon Thames! I am not one to turn down an adventure, so I of course arranged a trip right away.

An Instagram Guide to: Portsmouth

Hey Guys,

This year has been whisking me away to the British south coast time and time again! From a recent press trip to Southampton, to my family holiday in Littlehampton and now, a trip to Portsmouth! I was kindly offered the chance to discover Portsmouth as part of a press trip to the Mary Rose Museum. I of course took the opportunity to also create lots of lovely Instagram content and put together this blog post for all you snappy, insta-lovers, who would also like to find some seriously cool backgrounds! Make sure to give me a follow on Instagram (www.instagram.com/eboniivoryblog) and let me know if you find any of these locations yourself by tagging me! Enjoy!

Exploring The Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth

Hey Guys,

Now, I am the first to jump at the opportunity for a bit of an adventure, to learn something new and for a bit of exploring. So when the chance came up to visit a new city and create content around an exciting exhibition, I couldn't wait!
I was kindly invited to Portsmouth to explore the wonderful Mary Rose Museum. Set within Portsmouth's Historic DockyardI had a great time learning all about this fantastic ship. From Henry VIII to all of the crew members (even the ship's dog) up until it's sinking and eventual excavation!

Keep reading to explore the hidden treasures along with me. Make sure you stay to the end, where I will be sharing a super special 25% off entry code with you!

Royal Afternoon Tea in the Clouds with Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth

Hey Guys,

As you may have noticed from the sudden influx in Portsmouth content on my blog; I went to Portsmouth! It was during this visit that myself and my blogger pal Hebe were kindly invited by the team at Emirates Spinnaker Tower to sample the delightful Royal High Tea to celebrate Queen Victoria's 200th birthday! It was a wonderful experience. I am no stranger to Afternoon Tea, it is one of my favourite things to do here in the UK. I have a whole section dedicated to Afternoon Tea here on EBONI + IVORY should you wish to delve deeper into my obsession!

Afternoon Tea at Cobbles Tea Room, Rye

Hi Guys,

Today's post is a little bit of a throwback to last summer, which saw me and my friends travelling across the south of England, visiting the most 'Instagrammable' locations. There were many fantastic places that we were able to see, including this beautifully quaint tea room, down a cobbled street of Rye, Kent.

Secret 'Instagrammable' Rooftop in Florence

Hey Guys,

Today marks about a year since my last big batch of travelling. After an amazing trip to Italy and then North America, I truly miss getting out and about in the world (I have been plotting and scheming my next adventure though!)
Whilst in Florence, I decided to make it my mission to find the location that had taken my breath away on Instagram time and time again. Various big fashion bloggers had done some of their best posing and pouting on a rooftop in front of the gorgeous Duomo. I found it near impossible to locate the exact rooftop. Google searches had left me high and dry and I was close to accepting that perhaps this blogger bucket list item would be left unticked...

My Curly Hair Care

Hey Guys,

I recently visited Just Cuts in Wandsworth for their salon opening. I thought it would be wise to disclose that they kindly sponsored some social posts from me, however, this post in not sponsored and all views are my own.

Hello Spring!

Hello Spring!

I thought I would do a blog post to commemorate the start of this new season! With the clocks going forward over the past weekend, many people were upset at losing an hour of sleep. For me, that one hour sacrifice came with the knowledge that I would be gaining longer evenings and better lighting in my apartment, so I am here for it!
I most definitely felt the affects of the winter on my mental health and well-being for the first time ever. I'm not sure if that is because I am more aware and connected with my mental health or if it's because I had truly never been affected before. Either way, it is a good thing to take note of in order for me to be more prepared for next year. However, for now, I am just looking ahead to sunnier days, a bit of travelling, more fashion content and longer days...

Celebrating 3 Years of EBONI + IVORY!

It feels like only yesterday that I was writing my “Celebrating 2 Years of EBONI + IVORY” blog post, fresh from an Italian adventure, looking forward to another year in this business we call blogging. Well, here we are again. I made it through another year! *confetti canon*
From my first press trip abroad, to working on a huge project with Kia, travelling across North America and rekindling an old romance, 2018 will certainly be a hard one to top! I have loved sharing my past year of adventures online, so here are is a roundup of my favs:

Spa Day and Afternoon Tea at Hilton Ageas Bowl

Hi Guys,

Whilst in Southampton recently, I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon at Eforea Spa, located within the Hilton Ageas Bowl Hotel. They kindly treated myself and my friend Grace to a spa day afternoon tea.
We were lucky with the gorgeous, sunny weather. We really enjoyed soaking in the rays on the deck of the outside jacuzzi. Unfortunately the facilities themselves were extremely busy and we didn't actually manage to spend much time in the spa area at all or get an pictures, however it all looked wonderful and I would love to re-visit on a quieter day. (For reference, we arrived at approximately 11.30am on a Monday)

Instagram Guide to: Southampton

Hey Guys,

So this weekend, the universe answered my pleas, and I was blessed with a night away from London! I was kindly invited by room2 Southampton, to stay in one of their gorgeous rooms. I took this as an opportunity to make the most of my visit with some blog posts, YouTube videos and collaborations.

I had never been to Southampton before, nor did I know much about it, but after a few hours of google-searches, instagram geotag stalking and looking through the blog posts, I had a list of places to go and things to see that would satisfy my desire to explore, as well as my Instagram feed!

Southampton is the gorgeous port city of Hampshire, in the south of England. A 1.5 hour train ride or 2 hour coach journey from London will take you into the heart of Southampton for around £30. Famous for it's aviation heritage and being the departure point of the Titanic in 1912, Southampton has a rich history with lots to explore. What's more, Southampton is home to a large university, meaning the city is populated by lots of young people. It is for this reason I believe Southampton is home to so many wonderful bars, cafes and cool spaces that cater to the modern, aesthetic-seeking generation!
I hope this post inspires you to get up close and personal with the wonderful city that is Southampton!

Instagram Guide to: Southampton

room2 Southampton
1 Queen's Terrace, Southampton SO14 3BP

Room2 is a gorgeous hotel. You can read more about it and view more images in this blog post. I love the decor of the public spaces, as well as the bedrooms themselves. Each nook brings a new photo backdrop, making it the perfect place for an indoor insta-sesh!

Harbar on 6th
5 Maritime Walk, Southampton SO14 3QT

I discovered Harbar on 6th after I stumbled across their instagram page. According to our Uber driver, this place is extremely popular! We asked if we would be able to take some pictures on the balcony terrace, and despite the windy conditions, the staff kindly allowed us to. We paid the price though, as the nearby yachts swayed towards us! But it was so worth it for these fab pictures on a rare sunny spring day in the UK.

Boat Docks
Maritime Walk, Southampton, SO14 3QS

The boat docks are located just below Harbar on 6th. You can take a walk around the water and stop for a quick snap as you feel like it. Unfortunately you're unable to get up close and personal with the yachts, but I think we did pretty well at getting this close! I also loved the glass apartment blocks in the same area. The sunlight was gorgeous in the middle of the day.

olive. Bar
3 - 4 Vernon Walk, Southampton SO15 2EJ

The olive. bar needs no introduction - I mean, just look at her! This hidden gem is set amongst a few other bars on vernon walk. Don't let the graffiti and tiny alleyways put you off, this location is screams sophistication and has been touched by the hand on an interior god!
I LOVE the colours in here. From the seating areas to the toilets, you are sure to get a great picture in olive. bar!

Andrews Park (East Park)
Above Bar St, Southampton SO14 7DW

We stumbled across this location right at the end of our trip. We had an hour to kill before our train, so made the most of it and had a mini photoshoot - outfit changes and all! The lamp posts, the benches, the roses, the bandstand and the wooden archway; this location is a gorgeous oasis in the middle of a great city.

I hope you enjoyed this mini Instagram tour of Southampton! I'm sure there are loads more locations to be found, but this is what we managed in 24 hours! Have you ever been to Southampton or any of these places?

Hotel Guide: room2 Southampton

Hotel Guide: room2 Southampton

I was recently invited to experience a stay at the lovely room2 in Southampton. I was delighted at the prospect of escaping busy London for a night and head down to Southampton with a spring in my step!

This is my honest experience of a gifted stay at room2.

Room2 is located just opposite Queens Park and within walking distance of the national express bus station, Southampton Central train station and the main shopping centre and high street. In fact, Southampton is, generally, a very “walkable” place, which is very important to a non-driver like me! Otherwise, the Uber fares seem to be reasonable from what I saw, and the local bus routes are thorough.

Pan-Asian Dining with Toomai Square

Hey Guys,

Last week, I was invited down to sample the Pan-Asian delights of Toomai Square. Set just a stone's throw away from the beautiful Greenwich town centre in South East London, Toomai Square is the local delight that has quickly become a favourite of mine.

This newly founded restaurant is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, with the seating being  elegant and open-plan. I loved the modern bar, with it's art deco feel and had no problem finding a drink I liked on the bar menu...

The Lassi Pina Colada was undoubtedly one of the best Pina Colada's I have ever had! I loved the unique lassi spin on the traditional PC and it was super creamy and delicious, like a dessert! My date, Grace, went for a Flowering Jasmine Tea, which tasted great and looked even greater! How cool is that flower!

Thirst sufficiently quenched, it was time for some starters! I LOVE starters. When a restaurant has a great selection of starters, I have been known to order soley from that section! Toomai has an incredible selection, which meant we settled on three:

Tempura prawn - Batter fried prawns served with soya dip

Toomai dim sum - Delicious hand made steamed dumpling of choice (veg ,chicken , prawn ) served with herbs sauce

Thai Calamari - Calamari toasted in garlic & coriander sauce

My favourite of the three has to be the calamari. Calamari is a staple starter in my book. I will almost always go for it when it is on offer! The difference being the stunning ginger sauce that Toomai prepare their's in. It really set it apart and quicjly became my new favourite! The tempura was a close second - extremely fresh, with a crunchy shell and soft, juicy prawn. These starters not only taste incredible, but they are extremely well priced (between £4.55-£5.99)

After such wonderful starters, we couldn't wait to get our hands on the main courses. I didn't think the first few dishes could be topped - boy was I wrong! We ordered the Lamb shank massaman from the "Chef's Specials" portion of the extensive menu alongside the Prawn Pad Thai from the "Noodles". We also ordered a side of Egg Fried Rice to go with the lamb.

Lamb shank massaman - Coconut milk braised lamb in a mild home made curry with potatoes & nuts , garnished with almond flacks and pickled onions

Pad Thai - The famous stir fried rice noodle with egg, beans sprouts, tamarind sauce served with grained peanut on the side.

Egg fried rice

The lamb... the lamb... how can I describe the lamb...

I love coconut-based curries, but this one topped all of my experiences so far! Not only did the large, tender piece of lamb fall off the bone, but it sat in a pool of flavoursome curry with potatoes and spices. I would highly recommend going for this dish!

The Pad Thai was a great contrast to the hearty curry. It was fresh and tasty, cooked to perfection. I also feel that Toomai undersell their egg fried rice on the menu. It is not an ordinary plain egg fried rice that you would come to expect. It is packed full of flavour and herbs, standing superior to all the take-aways I've had so far!

Finally, as if we hadn't eaten enough, we couldn't say no to a cheeky dessert! I must say, in comparison to the starters and main courses, the dessert selection fell a little short. But this was probably due the expectations set by previous courses.
We went for a selection of coconut ice-cream (served in a coconut shell) vanilla ice-cream and strawberry. All flavours were extremely creamy and made a sweet ending to a perfect meal.

I hope you're not too hungry after reading this! I am sat here, typing away at 9pm, wishing I had eaten my dinner before starting to write. My mouth is salivating just thinking about eating this meal again!

If you do make a trip to Toomai square, make sure you tag them in your social media posts and let me know what you ordered and if you liked it!

10 Things to Make You Happier in 2019

Hey Guys,

As January comes to a close, I am thinking about ways I can make the most out of the coming months and guarantee success in 2019. Living in the UK, the winter days are short and grey, my vitamin D intake is at an all time low and I have struggled to feel productive. That being said, I love making lists, as I find they help me get stuff done; so I decided to share my personal list of "want-to-achieve" goals, in the hopes it may inspire some of you!
